2.3 Design the specific pressure vessels to be fabricated and tested.

In laying out the desired test assembly it was determined very early that a double-ported cylinder (having a port on each end) would be desirable. Since cylinders in the size range applicable to the contemplated testing did not have double ports it was necessary to design one from scratch. Working with Samtech International a 7.5-liter liner was designed and developed specifically for this series of tests. (To see a copy of the liner drawing, refer to Appendix B of this document.) Sufficient quantities of these liners were procured.

Using the logic defined above (section 2.2) and HEI's in-house design codes, pressure vessels utilizing each of the selected fiber systems were designed to fall within the designated test pressure range (approximately 2500 to 3500 psig test pressure). The following table summarizes those designs.
